Introducing AI System Prompts for Essay Rooms
A new way to contextualize and vitalize your AI model.
Hello EXAMIND AI users, we hope your summer has been off to a fantastic start.
A few months ago we moved our Essay Room feature into a public beta, but that was just the start. Today we’re excited to announce new functionality within Essay Rooms: custom AI System Prompts.
The AI System Prompt can be found in the settings menu for each assessment, between the Access Code and Availability sections. This freeform text field lets professors input prompt instructions the same way you would when giving context to a tool like ChatGPT, allowing you to customize the context, tone, and personality of the model your students will ultimately engage with during your assessment.

New AI System Prompt: We’ve introduced a new field in the Essay assessment type that lets you enter custom prompts for your AI models.
Beta: The Essay Writing Room remains in open beta, and changes will continue to happen as the year goes on. More on what that might entail at the end of the post.
You can find useful and helpful prompts in a variety of places, but in our experience a good starting point is from Dr. Ethan and Lilach Mollick and the team at AI for Education. Their libraries are linked to directly below the text field, so you can browse to your heart’s content and find the prompt that works best for you and your students.

Future Enhancement
By fall, our goal is to support all major paid AI models so that professors can select which one they want to use their prompt with. We know that students and professors alike are experimenting across platforms, and our goal is to make it as convenient as possible to use the one that works best for your process.
That’s It, That’s All
